Cube-shaped poo

The initial plan for today, was to go hiking in one of the nearby alpine regions. We never made it. By the time we were ready to leave home, we figured it would be too busy. We decided to visit the Chauncy Vale Wildlife Sanctuary instead, which is only a 30 minute drive from here.

We wanted to check out the Browns Caves, so we walked the Caves Loop Track. This track is pretty well-maintained, about 4 kilometres long, and has a bit of a climb up to the caves over uneven and rocky ground.

The climb is certainly worth it. There are quite a few caves, some bigger than others.

The last section of the Caves Loop Track joins up with the Wombat Woodland Walk. This is a great walk for families with young kids as there are animals to find and even two (optional) suspension bridges to cross.

As the name suggests, the Wombat Woodland Walk takes you through wombat habitat. Even sticking to the path, we spotted a few wombat burrows.

Which finally brings me to the title of this post. You may have heard rumours, or this may come as a total shock to you, but wombat poo is cube-shaped. I shit you not! Here’s proof.

And wombats like to plate them up, like a two star Michelin chef.
